Sometimes called the ‘Pocket Navy’ or ‘Pocket Police’ revolver, this
was the last cap n’ ball Colt revolver to enter production. While
ours are available in .36 and .44, this model was originally offered
in .36 Percussion (a larger calibre than the .31 Percussion 1849
Pocket model). Lighter and quicker to handle than their full-sized
counterparts, the 1862 Pocket revolver quickly became the sidearm of
choice for several law enforcement agencies including the New York
Metropolitan Police. This model’s compact design also made it a
prized personal possession of more than a few union soldiers, who
discreetly packed the pocket pistol as a backup for their
muzzle-loading rifles during close-in fighting.
The Pietta 1862 Police model revolvers are an excellent recreation
of the original sidearm employed by dozens of law enforcement
agencies Across the United States. Each revolver is precision
machined using the latest technology before being assembled, fitted,
and finished by skilled craftsmen in Pietta’s Italian production
